And we will rise up and defeat it. In the meantime, extended family (my side) Thanksgiving was to happen at our house about now, but an incoming snowstorm has buckled the knees of my sibs and a couple of generations of their offspring. I just returned the extra tables and folding chairs to the Unitarians. We are up to our ears in feastibles. Wish you were here.

"through the red-light district to the great sandstone castle of the central library" We did the same only by city bus. We spent plenty of time there. Pretty good for a bunch of Irish hooligans : )

I am seventy-eight years old, but you are one of my role models and one of my writing heroes. Thank you for your books and your radio shows. I enjoyed the movie, also. Some day when I die and get to heaven, maybe we can get one bedroom clouds next to each other. My dad and his dogs will there, but he will just be singing old Bapist hymnns.

We are fortunate to have been born in the 1940s - old enough to enjoy the benefits of vaccines and antibiotics in our childhoods and advanced medical techniques, treatments and diagnostic testing in our old ages. Both of my grandfathers died of colon cancer in their mid-60s, so I started getting colonoscopies in my late 40s. I have had 5 so far and am due for the next one in the spring. The last two have been done by a woman gastroenterologist, which makes it much less stressful. It felt creepy to have it done by a strange man. The last time I went she asked me if I bit my fingernails because I like to keep them very short. I told her that I developed that habit when I started playing the violin 63 years earlier. She looked shocked and said, “I thought you were about 60!” That made my day since I was almost 72 at the time.

Let's all rise up and defeat it. The most important words I've heard this week.

Thank you Garrison. Your words give us the strength to face these awful times. Have loved your words for 40 years -- and thanks to science -- I hope I will be able to hear more as we remove the curse on our country and return to common decency.

A soliloquy on being an entertainer-philosopher in times of disaster. In some ways, we can all relate, even if tonight's audience is just the kids at the dinner table. To lead with hope or sorrow? That's often the question.

Once again Garrison you inspire me to stop thinking about just myself and my solo life my solowness and put pen to pad paper and words to the keyboard and expand my latest manuscript of prosetry. Major props.

I too , as a young boy, claimed those stairs often to the special library on the third floor. I went past a facemile of the Keningston Rune stone and the big book of original Audabon bird prints.
