It says something about the value my school placed on history. Our history classes were invariably taught by coaches. One stands out in my memory for sitting in front of the classes reading the day’s chapter aloud to the class. That was it. I recall thinking at the time, “I can read it myself!!!”

But enough griping. As a college student, I can also remember walking the sidewalks in the older parts of Fargo on spring days and being immersed in a feeling of community. Sidewalks had already begun to fall out of fashion in the newer neighborhoods. I’m glad to see sidewalks have made a coming back.

So much simple wisdom here. Simple but poignant observations about life and people and weather and foibles and it warms my heart just to read these vignettes as I slowly sip my morning tea. ☺️ Thank you gentle sir. 🙏
