Dear Garrison ~ Saying that I’m thinking of you and wishing you well is woefully inadequate. I’m sure there are countless others who, upon reading your posts, written as you cope with Covid-19, have feelings of concern (if not alarm), heave a sigh, and get lost in reverie as we think about you and how much we feel love and appreciation for you. I read once that the Inuit people have many words for ‘snow’, and differentiate between the various types of snow. I think the English language needs more words for the concept of love. When I first posted this morning, I truly wanted to say “Thinking of you with love, and wishing you well,” but I refrained from saying that for fear of raising your bushy eyebrows, being misunderstood, or thought daft, if not delusional. But you have been a steady source of wisdom and humor in my life for forty-three years, and in the lives of countless others, I am sure. You are a welcome, familiar and comforting voice of unflappable, droll honesty that is in stark contrast with the media feedlots who churn out tons of manure. You are beloved by millions whose lives are enriched and made more delightful by your great wit and humble insights. I send you my love and best wishes for a speedy recovery and a return to your usual high energy and inimitable, prodigiously creative self.
