Podcast 82 - Celebrating Fathers - “Cast your bread upon the waters and you shall find it after many days,” he said. Does anyone understand that? Who wants soggy bread?
Time to stop beating yourself up over what was and what more than likely could not have been changed. You have new songs to sing. Concentrate on that. It would serve you and your readers well. Thank you.
Your combination of disaster and joy is unique to you , I think. I began recovery in 1989, and it has been comforting to have you along the way. The twelve steps aren’t in a straight line, and either are you. Thank you .
Oh my yes! True sandalwood is shockingly expensive and very dear, as it’s now endangered, so its production is controlled. It’s too bad as it’s such a lovely oil, one of my favorites.
There is a cheaper substitute on the market, Australian Sandalwood, but to my nose there’s no comparison. That can be had fairly economically.
My father of the year award goes to Joseph...He nurtures without notice the Son of God. He fathers ignoring the shame, someone elses child of his teenage wife.
Good afternoon, Garrison: There you go again, being old and marvelous. Betty and I had a similar emotional moment while enjoying a love fest of conversation this morning during meditation/prayer. At 83 and nine days away from 64 years married, this emotion of truth based on common sense is wonderful. Thanks, rr
You know that perfection of the hobgoblin of success…or something like that. I do have to say that I have never seen you as a “Father Figure’, more of the really fun and funny uncle who could tell jokes! That’s good and enough as well. Can’t all be perfect so try for good-enough for the moment, and another, then another…and being a ‘good enough’ husband is pretty cool! So, no ice fishing, maybe a beer, a trip to see the sites of Europe…those are what matters, really.
So good(!). A nice & complex bunch of non-facts/important factoids, though. Whatever they are, it's impossible not to learn something dear from, during the sound of the best voice off the internet. Thanks Garrison!
I have an enormous respect for GK, but this podcast is not his best: how he did not mention his own father? I am grateful to his father (and mother) since - see my first words.

A very engaging connection of thoughts, Garrison, a lovely verbal stroll.
First time to see “I’d’ve”. Love it!. Thanks.

Great insight into human nature without apology and with humor. A nice and unusual combination of being right and honest at the same time.
Thank you for your continued contributions. We still miss Rusty.
Sorry to nit-pick, but sandalwood and chamomile are both fairly common bark/flowers, hard to believe their essential oils go that high!

Well, shut my mouth!

Not a clue what this verse means BUT, fwiw, the hebrew word for "water" (mayim) only uses a plural form.
