Podcast 88 - ...I look at the woman sitting ten feet away, whom I love dearly, and she smiles and asks me, “Do you notice something different about me?” A question that strikes dread in my heart.
When I was in 4th grade, so 8 or 9, I was also teacher's pet. Hazel McCaul invited me for a sleepover at her house and told me I could name one other classmate to come along. She vetoed my choice because he was a bedwetter; I don't remember who came in his place. I was excited because we'd heard her husband had once served her muskrat--exotic to my mind. My younger brother who now lives in the house where we grew up (8 of us) recently gave me a small pile of stuff my mom had saved, including my 4th grade report card, signed every couple of months by Mrs. McCaul and my parents. We apparently have in common, Garrison, not working up to our abilities. I'm still trying to live up to her expectations, though I'm well into retirement and she's been dead for decades.
I like the black hat with a buckle...and used to have a woman who would accept my love too...until my dear Jeannette passed away from Pancreatic Cancer...
For someone who sexually harassed your staff, and for which you never apologized or admitted wrongdoing, I find it surprising you are allowed to post on Substack. You used to be my hero. I attended 4 of your Prairie Home events in person and followed your weekly shows since they began. I am so disappointed.
Is there anything finer, more lovely than sitting quietly across from the woman you love.

I'm so sorry to hear that. Condolences.
The party of Lincoln now seems to be closer to the party of Joe McCarthy and Richard Nixon
