Podcast #38 — Leave the big chances to the young ones and live your life, counting the days, applying your heart unto wisdom, cherish what you love, take no meetings, go for long walks.
Per your suggestion I recently read War and Peace, Anna Karenina and even Ulysses. I’m sure glad I didn’t waste my youth on these. For an extra challenge I tackled Infinite Jest. I dare you to read that one!
Hi, Garrison - I learned a while ago that you are related to David Powell. So am *I*! He was a great man who did a lot of our country, and I am proud to call you "cousin" no matter how far removed we are!!
When I was a surveyor in the early 1960s, a rod was 16 feet, 6 inches. If a rod was the same length in the 19th century, that would make David`s house about 350 ft by 400 ft. Like 140,000 sq.ft. Seems improbable.
"Leave the big chances to the young ones and live your life, counting the days" I don't know, Mr. Keillor. The oldsters may be boring and stodgy, but they can change a tire. I remember, long ago, you said we are entering an age when no one can fix anything. Everyone laughed. It was funny, and still is, because true.
