Two words: Veterinary aromatherapy. Too funny! Thank you for a laugh out loud start to my Valentine’s Day!

Hate to break it to you but using essential oils is a common "thing" among animal owners and plenty of veterinarians are aware of and approve of this non-invasive intervention. I don't think there is (as yet) a degreed career path for it though, and it those eleven syllables are a bit of a hoot rolling off the tongue. Cheers!

GK's choice of words, of subjects, of the rhythmic feel of reading so as to

write it right, is as much a talent and a gift as is that of an interior decorator:

it may seem simple enough, but it takes real skill to make it that way.

My journal entry today:

Happy Valentines Day!

Last Sunday in our Adult Sunday School Class we covered the passage discussing whether or not it was good not to touch a woman . . .

The consensus among all of us old men and women was that it was good to touch a woman, at least that was the impression that I got, and my beautiful bride agreed. PTL!

Love, me

PS: I just bought your 77 Love Sonnets book. They say that you can't tell a book by its cover, but I did like the cover. She'll likely just roll her eyes . . . until I start reading the first of the 77. I hope it's a good one!

Great column Garrison. Thank you.

I wish you and your wife a wonderful Valentines Day! I love hearing about you two in your columns.

I have heard that one of the biggest wastes of money is buying greeting cards. To me, greeting cards get better as the price goes up. And at the higher end you have cards that are made by hand with hand made paper. And its OK if the hand made paper is made in France. The French are pretty good at making paper!!! And of course, you have to use a fountain pen with an exotic color ink. I am still working on including poems in the cards....but if I figure I if I keep reading enough poem books, as mentioned in from the Writers Almanac, maybe I will get there!!!

Good old Sol, great lines too…come with me the the ‘garden’ drink some wine, and a 1000 moments later, —Musky only has 11 but will ship you his seeds too. To great ‘come on’ lines!

I love love, and the related empathy that comes from knowing someone as human beings.

This was the message of Jesus and of community…we are all in this together, this day of love…work at it. Love is both the warm bust of this morning’s wondrous hug from my wife of thirty-plus years, and the knowing that it continues…empathy is the outward reciprocal flow beyond attraction. Sex is fun! Although, Puritans have tried to suck this out of us…sorry, couldn’t resist, like love vampires...cold, lacking in empathy. I think it’s heart and brain, warm and vital and poetic!

So, to all the earnest poets that save us…my love!

About once a month you provide a comment that immediately becomes my all-time favorite. You've done that again today: "... the Song of Solomon, was his way of sending an SOS."

Please be well, and please feel at least a bit of the fondness and gratitude we hold for you.

As is customary, my sweetheart & I did the date yesterday. I, beautiful white long stem roses to her which she happily displayed in our breakfast nook, and she cooked bacon & eggs, a rarity here, we're watching my cholesterol. Our hugs & kisses are frequently interspersed with quick walks for our grandpuppy-nature calls often. We've planned that tomorrow will be our "real" valentine celebration, when grandpuppy goes home to my son & daughter in law. Today, however, we'll have brief hugs and pecks on the cheek expectantly waiting for grandpuppy's departure. The romance can then begin! We do really love grandpuppy however.

Well Greg, we're told that grand puppy is an American Bulldog. He looks nothing like what I & others often think how bullies appear. He is not squat, large jawed, nor dripping saliva continually. Contrarily, he's more shepherd-like in stature, short-haired, highly expressive facial characteristics-as though he is a cartoon character. He IS a cartoon character. He has assured me of this.

My husband jokes, "The only reason she stuck around was for my Benet's...".

In my defense, I really didn't know such a thing existed, the wonder of it! Truly my white knight, complete with college-level reference material!
