Each of us needs at least one person in our life who can keep our nose clean when we are unwilling or unable to do so. We are witness to a great example of what can happen when that is lacking.

I don't know, I feel sort of sorry for Melania.

What? Who forced her to marry a woman-hater man?

No idea, but I sure wouldn't want to be in her shoes.

Can we not have compassion for people who make decisions that we may not have made? The judgement oozes and looks ugly from over here.

Wonder?

No you don't. The wondering is over.

The implications of their atrocities, and I use that word, on purpose. is a pox on Humanity.

Dear Mr. Keillor,

What would be the antonym of weaponize—a word for beating one’s sword into a plowshare?

Love,

Weaponized Kleenex and ear dinguses--you got my day off to a good start. Back to work today after a mountain biking vacation in the Northwest that left me pretty dinged up. My wife helps change the bandages gooped with raw honey. She is a sweet woman. Currently making a new desk for myself that will eliminate the last feeble excuse for not finishing the novel started a decade ago. Procrastination necessarily becomes elaborate in retirement.

GK - lovely column, whimsical, no whining, made me happy! Thanks

Thank God for third grade teachers and men who feel honored to scratch their wife's back: indeed they hold the weapons of real power!

Most all men left to their own devices are idiots and can't figure out how to stay on track, I include myself in that category especially when my wife leaves me home alone for too long without instructions. Melania doesn't stand a chance at keeping the T Train on the tracks because he alone is the only one that can fix things.

Melania will be the most interesting character when the 8 part HBO series is released.

I agree! I don't think the story works though unless he is under long-term house arrest.

Dear Garrison, on behalf of third grade teachers everywhere (yes, I do feel confident in this sweeping generalization), a little hermitage in the mountains after thirty years working with the small folk (and their parents) sounds delightful.

Secondly, Melania knows exactly, as my dear old dad used to say, on which side her bread is buttered.

Love your work, sir.
