Thank goodness for Garrison Keillor. Comfort in uncertain times takes the edge off them.

Is there anyone else here who feels an overwhelming need to hear Garrison sing “Honky Tonk Woman”?

That sentence about mammals reminded me of a cat, Caligula, (I was taking 2nd year Latin at the time) my youngest brother got when he was 5. It was a tiny kitten and Paul treated it like a baby, handling it constantly. My mother took a cute picture of the two of them wrapped up in a blanket on the couch with just their heads sticking out. That cat was so used to humans that it would try to get onto any lap that became available. Most of the time people just pushed him off because he was so big and heavy. (I think that mammals seek out body heat from other mammals when it is cold.) One day, about 10 years later, Paul had a friend visiting him and as soon as the boy sat down, Caligula jumped up onto his lap. When he said, “Animals love me!”, we all laughed.
