Hooray for the well-articulated excoriation of history’s blind moments, including this Era of the Big Lies. A rapier you have wielded!

I’m not a gambler. To me it’s kind of a vice. But whatever and however native Americans can achieve reparations for the cruelties inflicted on them by we Europeans, then I say, “Amen!”

Bravo Mr. Keillor! Your predictions are no doubt spot on and I resonate with your observations about historical sites and relics best left to moulder.

I confess that, for many years, I have fervently wished for a well-targeted typhoon to obliterate Mar-a-Lago. One with such precision that it would be considered an act of God, and thus not covered by insurance.

With Florida's apocalyptic weather and insurance companies' greed, we may get our wish!!

Patience, sea level rise will take care of it (of course, it will be uninsurable before then).

A wonderful piece, but at the risk of being a bummer, there’s one thing that needs to be kept in mind.

While there is certainly reason to be hopeful of Trump’s defeat in the upcoming election, if the past five years have taught us anything it is that even that should not be considered an absolute guarantee that there will not be another Trump presidency.

Any such defeat needs to be absolute, final, and overwhelming.

Thank you for this! beautifully argued and long overdue in our national conversation.

A wonderful piece! As a former SD farm girl now in her eighties, I would be happy to toss my Lutheran behaviors and join the dancing at Little Bighorn! A spiritual park, what a great idea!!

The mind boggles when self-righteous "Christians" brag about their utter devotion to a scoundrel wholly devoid of integrity and a moral compass. It gives Christianity itself a bad name. It's blind devotion to a local sports team transposed into "politics"―if you can call it politics when the survival of democracy is at stake―unheeding of all history and the dangers to this and future generations.

Self righteous is by definition not from the teachings of Jesus…no ego, no judgment, grace based on one’s actions! How easy it is to forget! Too much damn work!

What Would Jesus Do?’ And what would little Donny doo, or ‘where?, I guess. As he’s loosing he’s ‘producing’ bricks!

Yes, it has occurred to me that he's probably in a state of "overproduction" these days!

The Trump library: 1 book, written by him. Just 17 words long: “I won! I beat Joe Biden! And then he stole it! Really! I always tell the truth!” Thanks for always telling us the truth, or something close to it, like your mother, Mr. Keillor, and always with grace, wisdom and humor.

C'mon, Garrison. Don't be shy. Tell us how you really feel!

Interesting idea re the Little Big Horn. However, I'm not sure I could fully get in touch with my spiritual self at the site of such violence.

I kind of like what the Germans in Nurnberg have been doing - just letting the Nazi structures slowly decay. The Grossestrasse where many a Nazi in a Leni Refenstahl's "Triumph of the Will" marched is still there, but the locals have allowed trees to grow in the marble/masonry - they keep it clean, but have no desire for maintenance. Same with the Zeppelin Field, where Hitler addressed his adoring fans. The grandstands are still there, as well as the seating along the edges, but no restoration takes place; there are trees and bushes and such growing up through where the spotlights for Speer's "Cathedral of Light" were mounted. Just letting it slowly fall apart <insert reference to "Ozymandias" here, as you see fit>.
