I've always loved the show and the songs, since we began listening in '81. It became our weekly habit. One song that I always hoped to sing to my sweetheart was "My Old Dutch". I blinked my eyes, and now a month from today is our 40th anniversary.. I'll let you know how it goes! Thank you for being a constant light in our lives.
Many prospective congratulations! My wife & I have also been together now for 40 year. Essentially down to my wife's counter-balancing patience, tolerance & impeturbability. It don't seem a day too much. There divint be a lady living in this land as I'd swap for me dear old Dutch.(ess)
My wife and I just passed 41 this month. We were lucky enough to have Garrison announce our engagement on PHC, probably because we got married on April 1.
Speaking of shower heads, did you notice that Trump has just repealed a Biden-era rule restricting water flow from shower heads in order to properly ‘take care of his beautiful hair. Opportunity missed, or bullet dodged?
Enjoyed this one--brought back memories of going to the "Rodeo" theater when I was growing up. They featured western movies so of course I know all about Ole Paint. You brighten my mornings.
Thank you Garrison. Another great piece. It put me in a great mood. I was going to write something serious today, given how I am getting a little caught up in all of this mayhem, but I think I will just keep it positive and smell the roses today.
Keep the good Dr. report cards coming, and take care.
Come on Lawrence! Express your outrage at Trump and his team of incompetents dismantlers of everything that has made this country great! I am waiting along with your daughters for you to come around.
I was suppose to be a Barbara. But my sister, whose 10th birthday I ruined because mom was busy giving birth to me, was allowed to change it to Cynthia. I am grateful. And a positive shout out to those working the drive-thru windows when it’s too cold or rainy, and to those taking care of my car…no matter your name, I appreciate what you do.
My husband and I were living in his small hometown in South Dakota in the 90s when Senator Larry Pressler wanted to privatize Public Broadcasting-seems almost quaint now, considering what we are currently up against.
Anyway, I took my mother in law to hear you speak at Augustana in Sioux Falls. You were touring and lobbying on behalf of Public radio and television.
I smile as I remember you taking questions-several were rather heavy like, “How do we achieve world peace?” You answered all questions with your graciousness.
I simply wanted to ask you if anyone ever called you Gary, but we ran out of time.
So glad you took this career path! I’ll have to look up hoolihan now to be clear on your rhyme with dan.

That's great. I hope you have that episode digitized from your original cassette recording.

Good grief. :’-(

Linda Ronstadt sang it on one of her records.
A hooligan with a hoolihan

“Lovely to see you again, my friend,”.
Whenever I meet another Linda, I usually say, "I know about how old you are!"

Why this made me cry, I don’t know. All I know is, I am glad you changed your name to Garrison.♥️
We might say that Gary's preferred name is Garrison. He wasn't born with it, so that may yet get him into trouble with the feds. Stay tuned!
My guess is you cried at the recounting of a very pleasant interaction of two adults. Nice.

Now I know!
Good one, Garrison. Thank you.
You nailed it Garrison….
You are my ray of sunshine every day. Blessings.
Mine too...
"I ride old pait, I lead old Dan..." I too love that real cowboy song, and sing it at
senior centers. Unlike say, "Home on the Range," it's more of a folk song. But of course both
are popular....as is "Don't Fence Me In, by Cole Porter.
My dad was a fan of Eddie Arnold-🎶”Trailers for sale or rent. Rooms to let, fifty cents.”🎶
Brings me back, every time I hear it. As does Patsy Cline.
