Helps me with my own perspectives on my mother and grandmother. I liked the use of the word royalty in refence to grandparents. Its how I feel now, even though its many years since they have passed. Thank you Garrison

I love being a mother. Being a grandma is wonderful too. I reflected on your mother’s comment that she was proud of all of her children. I think most Moms would say the same about their children. More than the pride though is the love. I would look to a wordsmith like you to capture the statement that describes a mother’s love for her child. It is so achingly deep and encompassing that I am unable to describe it adequately. Your mother sounds like a very lovely person. I would wish to be on her Mom team.

My mother entertained everyone, she told stories like they should have happened rather than how they happened. I was serious and dour and embarrassed because I knew the real stories. i was blonde and bookish like Dad, and she was dark, and when I first saw Julianne Margulies, there was my mother. A cousin said she was funnier than Lucille Ball. She taught me to sew, and gave my straight hair the dreaded permanents. She was a little wild; she could ride a horse and climb a tree and paint and wallpaper a house and withstand pain and make a hospital wing laugh. If you didn't want seconds, she put it on your plate anyway. Strangers loved her. Once she and Dad flew to Phoenix, bringing a brick of my favorite cheese from the cheese factory, and Mom gave pieces to everyone on the airplane, cut with Dad's pocketknife. The only voice missing at her funeral was hers. She died in her sleep on vacation at my sister's in 1984, and I miss her so much.

I'm just happy that Garrison came back, having been thrown under the bus by M.P.R. In fact, I cancelled my subscription with them. This current climate reminds me of McCarthyism as well as Germany during World War Two.

Thank you. I answered someone in much the same way when he told me I should be proud of one of my sons. I’ve always worried that I sounded like a smart aleck. I’m glad that was the right answer.

Thank you Garrison. I am 83 and never had the joy of bearing 'my own' children. However, I married men who had grown children or children being raised by their natural mothers. These wonderful beings live in two different countries, New Zealand and the USA>. I also have nieces, grandnieces, and... you get it. I smiled at your description of your grandmother (a reflection of mine) and rejoiced at the relationships my wonderful stepchildren and their offspring have given me. Let them climb on and romp with me to their hearts' content!

This is beautiful . You cause us to reflect on our own mothers. I never met or even got to speak to either of my grandmothers. Really wish it would have been possible. Oh, the tales they could have shared. I am thankfil to have a beautiful and intelligent daughter and the best son inlaw, 2 sweet, beautuful grandchildren. They live up north and we are in Texas. We stay in touch with them and we try to visit every other year..... hoping they remember us with love as you do your family.🤗 Thank you Garrison. You speak of the important things in life.

I do believe she loves you because mothers generally do love their children even when they are a little wayward.
