An old and dear friend once advised me, "Tom, you don't have to dive into every cesspool you happen across just so you can complain about the smell." Great wisdom in those words - and yours. The world we live in is the world we focus on. When we focus on what we cannot control, we are powerless to change our world. When we focus on what we can control, however, then we have immense power to change the world we live in. That results in lower blood pressure and more evenings watching those beautiful sunsets while not concerning ourselves with the vocabulary of our tub mates.

Meanwhile, can someone please spell check your February calendar? There is no "Ormand Beach, Florida" - it's Ormond Beach. I lived there for many years, and thought about visiting in February just so I can witness your admonition to my former neighbors & friends.

Thank you. Your lead reminds me of , “ You need not grab every flaming arrow that passes overhead.” 😊

Excellent point about focus, cesspools, and how we often relinquish control over the choice we have made about where our attention is placed. We can always choose, but when one's eyes are conditioned to want / need to look at a screen _before_ engaging the actual thought process, then we have given away that precious 'first things first' element of the choices we make in our life on this day - instead, we _first_ look at a digital device...and follow whatever appears.
