I can relate to Lyle! Over 25 years in a Wobegon-like area, and I still feel like an outsider.
Growing up in church, every Christian act that entertained at a service had a powerful origin story for their act, a moment of reckoning when they knew their life was for the birds, so they quit their job and began traveling church to church, collecting love offerings and fellowship dinners as they went. The origin testimony felt like a requirement for these acts a la superheroes and political candidates.

I am glad the birds didn't "bless" the audience in other ways!
