A gem of a column! This part "...stories about a man named Pmurt who is on trial for tax duarf or something." gave me a really good laugh.

Agree - I’ve also been happier being less informed. However, if there is an issue or cause that I can help with, then I like to be informed enough to take action. Thanks for sharing your thoughts.

I am so grateful to find you again. I am an old weekly newspaper columnist as well an an editorial cartoonist who finds himself occasionally weary of struggling to find the gentle humor in the madness that readers thirst for. Emulating your path I am a regional confessional voice that veers into gentle humor to cloak my unpalatable progressive views here in Arizona. Reading you throughout my life you have provided me with manna from writer's Heaven, with reassurance, comfort, escape, exquisite writing and the wisdom of a worldly older brother whose voice restores my spirit. Thank you, Mr. Keillor. Ever onward.

Your inclusion of videos of Waylon and Marty provoked a brilliantly eccentric idea. Are you ready? Embed an audio clip of Garrison Keillor reading his columns! I sense a raised eyebrow? You may be surprised to learn that some of us think you have a mellifluous, even soothing voice.

Now this is more like it, dear (I'm enough older than you that I can call you dear) compared to the internment camps, also I'm sad to say to what has sometimes verged on flaunting your good fortune, and who can blame you, after all, but still, so un-Minnesotan - but like most of your other would-be relatives and friends, I love you anyway, having loved you for so long - so thank you dear, keep it up

Love your columns. Listened for 30 years. Please, please stay away from politics.. You have so many great stories to tell.

I'd bet my Twins cap that Rudy has not once gotten any advice so spot-on clear and bedrock sound as yours, Garrison.

I am glad that I am not the only one who visits YouTube during a recollection.

Being uninformed contributes to more happiness! I strolled in a small town park earlier today and all was as God intended here, too. Waylon and Marty were two guys my guy introduced me to a long time ago, and I'm glad I met them through their music. More music columns and less politics, please.

You have the best of both worlds! You can enjoy the simple life, then go to the city for a boost of energy and entertainment. I love my small life, but I ,too, need the occasional foray outside my comfort zone.

What a joy to read. Thank you.

Just curious, how is Florida discouraging voting by requiring an ID to do so? I suppose the many countries around the world that require the same draconian impediment set the egregious example for us. Devil always in the details and you always seem to deftly disregard those pesky little details. Love your writing but a few less political attacks would be nice.

I, too have been tempted to keep my head low and tend the garden like Martin in Candide. But after the bliss of ignorance wears thin, about 10 days out, I start to worry that our Democracy will be stolen away while I’m not looking. What would have happened if Hitler had had the internet?
