I am impressed that you can still use lovely words to express lovely thoughts and never mention my President Trump.

It's wonderful to read a love story that includes two people who are not young, and come from such different backgrounds, without it being "all mushy". If your family considered Lutherans worldly, boy, you had it tough. I know, I was raised a Lutheran, and, as a whole, they are not a barrel of laughs. I do love the little (telling) details, such as, "We are happy together and contented and though we disagree on numerous matters such as oatmeal (I love, she loathes), we live in harmony because I acknowledge that she is probably right. It isn’t the oatmeal I love but the brown sugar and raisins." Well, you've gotta admit that, it's the topping, and not what's underneath! Who doesn't love raisins and brown sugar?!

My wife grew up on a farm in rural Iowa. Her parents were of Norwegian and German descent, hard-working, rather serious people who were heavily influenced by their depression-era childhood. I was born and raised in New York City, 100% Italian, with grandparents on both sides who made the journey to America in the late 1880’s. All the stereotypes that one would associate with our respective backgrounds easily apply. We couldn’t be more different. Yet, 34 years into this partnership, I love her now more than ever, and, she’s more beautiful than ever. You and I did well, Mr. Keillor.

I am so happy for you. Knowing that you are content and have such a good life does my heart good. When you really like and admire someone, you want the best life possible for them. How wonderful that you met that charming, interesting, musical Minnesotan! You two seem to have found that rare perfect balance. I wish you both continued good health and many more years of happiness together.

Absolutely wonderful piece. Thanks Garrison.

I like how your differences compliment each other and leads to harmony and strength in your relationship. Wish I could see more of that in the world. My beloved and I have a very similar relationship to yours. But it is kind of funny how sometimes I have your behaviors and sometimes Ms. Nilsson's. Same thing for my beloved.

Take care Garrison. Travel safe and have a wonderful weekend.
