Your post makes no sense, sorry. Your man is on a campaign of devastation and disregard for law and the next generation will be left with whatever's left. That breaks my heart.
"That breaks my heart." Mine, too, Mr. Keillor. Every day and within the many hours within each given day, day and night, since fellow citizens summoned this evil force of destruction upon our land, some other feature of what was our dear nation is ruined, harassed, destroyed, tarnished, terrorized and brutalized. Our ongoing progressive efforts to be better than we were, our identity, our traditions and customs, what we thought were our shared basic values are no more and in their place are repulsive, ugly, cruel and amoral features emanating from people who espouse such features.
It has become a place that does not feel like home but by virtue of our being citizens in erstwhile America we are now forced to be members of a cohort that is repulsive, ugly, cruel and amoral, a cohort comprised of criminals, deviants and sadists. This cohort has chosen the "leadership" of our country, thus forcing it upon all of us, and they cheer what lunatics and criminals are doing, every day, every hour. It is beyond belief and inexplicable except as to lead one to some kind of "magical thinking" of the sort that makes one imagine that evil forces have taken over, that there are "devils" among us. that's not my way of thinking, but I struggle to understand why and how this has happened, and so fast and so easily for the transformation to have occurred. What has happened, is happening, is beyond my ken. But it surely does break my heart, too.
Your heart got some good repair some time ago, with the aid of a pig. It brings to mind that sweet line from a lovely film about a delightful pig, "Babe" and the line of appreciation and subtle praise from the farmer was "That'll do, pig. That'll do." You might have such a thought - a heartfelt one - some time. In the meantime, keep the patched heart in good shape and carry on. Those of us who still count ourselves as among the decent humankind are suffering, too, and are finding it harder and harder to sing with confidence that "it is well with my soul."
Wonderful piece! Thankfully I’ve not had to go to Mayo but once of the most moving experiences in my life was a visit to St. Jude Children's Hospital on business where I was given an in depth tour. The same wonderful atmosphere of caring and competence. I love your description of couples caring for one another—so true as we age with our partners and each take on unexpected roles of support. This was a wonderful respite from news about Epstein, burning USAID food supplies and ineptitude at FEMA. Thank you for the moment.
I can't say my life has been saved, so I can only imagine the immense gratitude, and dare I say it, joyfulness, that that brings to each day. It's wonderful to be in a place where "honesty, competence, and kindness are prime virtues. And the army of aides, receptionists, cooks, janitors feel a sense of higher purpose as well." If only all medical facilities could say that. For someone to be so well looked after. That in itself must be a miracle.
This feels like propaganda. Get the Drs and nurses to break out into dance in the hospital halls again. I'm so glad you are well and grateful and should celebrate those that help you get there but many of us still carry the deeds of the last 5 years and btw it was not only trump
Unfortunately, you seem to have fallen for right wing propaganda and the demonization of a decent man. I was much better off before the buffoon was reelected.
The deeds of the last five years? I can only guess that you're referring to all the right-wing conspiracy theories, the Big Lie and the insurrection of January 6, 2021.
The chickens are now coming home to roost for one of Trumpers' biggest conspiracy theories: the liar-in-chief is being asked to explain why he's not providing evidence to back some of the vilest lies he and his supporters have been spreading for years. As always, his explanations are merely new lies. "Obama wrote the Epstein files!" Sure he did, and Haitians are barbecuing my puppies and kittens right now.
Yah I agree with much of what you say. I do not like Trump and indo not think he handled COVID well, but I also don't like what the Dems did and do not think they did it well. Not conspiracies - just incompetence
So I guess what you're saying is that you voted for Trump even though you don't like him, which would make you complicit. We're in a huge national crisis, an authoritarian takeover, and what you've seen fit to do is to log on here and criticize the opposition to the fascists.
I work at the University of Michigan Hospital, and am so glad to say that the same atmosphere of kindness, competence, and honesty prevails here. It is heartening to know that there are islands of goodness still to be found in our country.
Mayo-praise is universally savory for the precious slices of ppl's lives you described, magical like the common condiment is with freshly cut 'maters. Your compassionate eye mirrors their sacred mission together, expertise unflinching. As far as the hearty singing of red core ppl goes, their misplaced passion about the worthiness of others attests to the life between lives being that eternally resides in every struggling saint and defiant sinner. The loudest singer in the choir can be horribly off key (Andy Griffith show- clueless Barney episode). VERY glad the docs gave you an encouraging update.
Made me teary. Thank you. I’ve been on the Mayo campus— different molecules there. Your call to remember beauty in caring and purpose goes deep in me. I remember my Norwegian Lutheran mother prayed that God would give her a merry heart through her ten year bout with cancer. He certainly did. I treasure your ongoing reminder of gratitude.
As I hit 80 this month, I feel the same way about Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center who took my right breast and gave me many more years of joyful life. Thank you for this lovely testimony.
My mother was misdiagnosed in Milwaukee so she went to Mayo. I was sooo impressed because a group of doctors evaluated her and figured out what was wrong. NOW I tell people...Go to Mayo and they will figure it out. So far so good with me. I am 84 and a half. I go to yoga 3 times a week and pick up garbage wherever I go...that's bending over in all sorts of places. I want to make the world a. better place that when I found it.
I understand it and I was raised in farming Southeast Arkansas and now live in rural East Texas…red as red can be. WOOOOO! PIG! SOOOOOIEEEE! Come to our UTHealth hospital in our small town that voted OVERWHELMINGLY Republican and you will get the same friendliness and cheer…just good people with good hearts…they are everywhere. You will never understand because you have TDS…let it go and you will live even longer. I’ll bet the wellness folks at Mayo would tell you the same thing…oh, but you already know everything that they know.
"...the policies 'he' espouses"? You mean, the destruction of parks, forests, water protection, worker safety, air quality, "safety nets," women's health and safety, qualities like honesty, decency, reliability; courtesy, dignity, repudiation of crime, corruption, theft, injustice, torture, cruelty; elimination of things people love, rely on, derived hope from.. things like public broadcasting, Voice of America, foreign aid, scientific research, higher education, public education....
Oh, what's the use. You people have shown that you hate America so much that you are perfectly happy to endorse its destruction. I think the only question that any sane, decent person can ask these days of people like you is: Why? Your crowd clearly does not even have enough sense to imagine that some day you will miss what you spat and shat upon and to imagine regret that you cheered as those you admire caused its disappearance.
Wow Annie, where are you getting all this baseline [correction- BASELESS BASELESS BASELESS!] information? Your fears are unfounded and outrageous. I do feel your hatred and that it is strong.
GK writes the compassionate truth, a truth born of experience. Your truth came about via a traitor to our democracy. Why do you read GK if you can't understand that?
Give it a rest with the TDS baloney. Your man is an utterly horrid human being and I can only wonder at your intellect for thinking otherwise. Good people with good hearts? Tariff cluster bombs, helter-skelter DOGE woodchipper, Alligator Auschwitz ad nauseam. You're a bunch of flaming idiots.
No. I would not buy a Bible autographed by anyone but you…I love to hear you read the gospel…very moving. You should do more of it and less TDSing…
I do not have a man…I live in a country with an elected leader who has policies that I support and I think are good for the country…that is what I voted for…not DJT…he is just a place holder in history. You will never get it…I guess it is TDS.
The only folks walking around with TDS are those supporting T's fascist policies. The rest of us have relatives who fought (and died) against just those policies.
You've been asked before and now again: what policies? You really like transforming this country into a police state that operates out of an ethos of corruption and crime?
Sometimes you are very hurtful...not very Wobegonian on your part...you were raised better...TDS2...Too Damn Stupid Trump Derangement Syndrome...I think I will copyright it...
I have never watched a Joe Rogan podcast...know nothing about him except the occasional mentioning of his name in the news or on social media. Nothing you say will ever make me not be a fan of your work. For one, I invested in it...you did not give all those books, CD's, DVD's, and general merchandise away. If you want to reimburse me for what I would estimate to be over $5,000, including a trip to St. Louis, MO to see you, I will go away. Other wise I am here to stay. I have earned the right. When you stop belittling me and those who support my beliefs and stick to what you are really best at you probably will not hear a lot from me. For the record, I am not ignorant and I am not dishonest. I love you more today than yesterday.
Cleveland Clinic has the same kind of caring vibe. There's a lot of goodness in our country, and the world. Let's keep focusing on that so that it grows and spreads even more.
I am glad you find the apparent rural Minnesota support of Trump interesting. Let me know what you find out and we can compare notes with my rural Mississippi observations and inquiries.
Your post makes no sense, sorry. Your man is on a campaign of devastation and disregard for law and the next generation will be left with whatever's left. That breaks my heart.

Keep on keeping on. Words I remember people saying when I was young.
My late wife Jeannette and I were one of those couples walking the halls of Mayo and yes we need that culture transplanted back onto our country.
I hope not. It is prevelant. That said, I am not demonizing anyone.
I don't respond to anonymous garbage badly written.

God bless your heart. Onward.
You ably catch the Mayo culture in this piece. The Trump Clinic? Please, don't give our Dear Leader any ideas.
People could go there to pay outrageous sums (probably fully covered under the Big Beautiful Bill, though) for intensive mendacity and hate therapy.
My mother was misdiagnosed in Milwaukee so she went to Mayo. I was sooo impressed because a group of doctors evaluated her and figured out what was wrong. Part of A Poem by Dr.Tom for those whose birthday, like mine, is coming again tomorrow.
It's my own: "You're Given the Gift"...
And here Excerpted:
"For on the bottom of the box Is a mirror, For you're given a gift, And the gift that's given is a mirror, For the gift you're given is you..."
I understand it and I was raised in farming Southeast Arkansas and now live in rural East Texas…red as red can be. WOOOOO! PIG! SOOOOOIEEEE! Yes, GK just had to let his TDS comment slip in there. All unfounded and baseless fears & lies.
You don’t belong here. There are plenty of sites, devoted to hate that you can join.
You really don’t belong here. It’s over your head.
Why do you bother? Have you nothing to do?
Hmpf why do you sir!? You ignore the policies he espouses and focus on his personality. Pure and simple TDS out of control.
"...the policies 'he' espouses"? I think you meant "baseless," not baseline. Actually it IS baseline information and you accidentally spoke the truth.
I didn't notice you touting any policies of his. Did I miss something?
Oh sure, here ya go!
POLICIES
1. Limited government
--Via DOGE / USDS (originally established by Obama) to focus on identifying & eliminating waste, fraud, & abuse.
2. No open border
--Secure U.S. border; deport illegals who Biden's admin shipped overnight to northern cities & were given taxpayer money
3. Reject identity politics & DEI
--Re-focus on MLK's 'judge not by the color of their skin but by the content of their character'
4. Expansion of domestic energy production (all in energy policy)
5. America First foreign policy
GK writes the compassionate truth, a truth born of experience. Your truth came about via a traitor to our democracy. Why do you read GK if you can't understand that?
Good people with good hearts, okay. But they voted to enrich the wealthy and punish the poor. Quite a contradiction.
I do not have a man…I support policies that are in the best interest of me and mine…pure, simple, common sense.
Say more.
Enough said…
If only....
That says it all.
You and yours. Eliminating health care. Tossing folks in prisons in El Salvador and freaking South Sudan. Got it.
Me and mine have health insurance, no one is illegal or illegitimate, and South Sudan has always been South Sudan and always will be…back to the pool.
Thank you for your attention to this matter.
Garrison is a good man who speaks the truth. Maybe you should listen to the truth. It might save your life one day.
Agreed…the truth shall set you free…it is in the Bible…
Are you buying your man's autographed Bibles too?

As do I...I would bet that more conservatives found and died than liberals...
You've been asked before and now again: what policies? You really like transforming this country into a police state that operates out of an ethos of corruption and crime?
You never cite the policies.
1. Limited government, individual liberty, and the rule of law
2. Support states rights and federalism
3. Appoint conservative judges who interpret the Constitution as written
4. Uphold the Second Amendment
5. Lower taxes for individuals and businesses
6. Simplification of tax code
7. Reduction of excessive regulations on businesses
8. Traditional marriage and family values
9. Pro-life
10. Religious freedom
11. Tax deductible health savings accounts
12. Interstate insurance sales
13. School choice
14. Local control of education policy
15. Promotion of patriotic education
16. Secure U.S. Border including a border wall at strategic locations
17. Expansion of domestic energy production (all in energy policy)
18. Opposition to Green New Deal except where proven to be cost effective
19. America First foreign policy
20. Strong support for military funding and veterans
21. Relentless backing of Israel
22. Preservation and strengthening of Social Security and Medicare
23. Promotion of private retirement savings
Why do you have nothing good to say about the man? TDS is you, Too Damn Stupid.
You got it!!! You thought I meant Trump Derangement Syndrome…I guess you have both…I am sure Duke’s Mayo can cure it.
Sometimes you are very hurtful...not very Wobegonian on your part...you were raised better...TDS2...Too Damn Stupid Trump Derangement Syndrome...I think I will copyright it...
You are tiresome. Truly. It's painful that someone so ignorant and dishonest is a fan of my work. Go be friends with Joe Rogan.
I have never watched a Joe Rogan podcast...know nothing about him except the occasional mentioning of his name in the news or on social media. Country vs. city can't justify the acceptance of lies like "They're eating the dogs! They're eating the cats!"
