Oh, Garrison. My daughter hasn't worked in a year. Now her wits are leaving her. I fear that the disease will chase her cruelly about the yard before finishing its work.....
My mother in law gave me your book lake wobegone in the late 80s I loved it ,I live in the UK in early 1990 my husband was sent to work in minnesota when I arrived at the rental house we were to live it over looked a lake,I felt I had come home
A boy with a hanger is slightly more comforting than a dark hooded old man with a scythe, I suppose, but like Woody Allen said I just don't want to be around when it happens. Here's to avoiding either one of them for as long as we can and then a soft landing in the sweet by and by.
as to marriage they say "third times the charm." i got lucky and after 35+++ years of marriage and 10 year of pre-marriage to connie i am convinced i will die in her arms.
Having worked for 40 years on the radio broadcasting business I take mild exception to Mr. K's statement that radio requires no special skill. But I will give him this, there are people who try to be in it that have no talent for it.
As I recently turned 80 I feel an even more acute appreciation of the joys and challenges we octogenarians face. Almost as a ritual I set my nap alarm for thirty minutes after lunch and listen to The Writers Almanac as kind of a hypnotic induction as I immerse myself in your highly relatable stories. As lovely and comforting as a lullaby. When you review your life’s work I hope you account for the millions of people you have comforted along the way. The world thanks you old friend.
Thanks for making me smile!
Thank you for the laughs!

Garrison, What do you recommend as a first Leibling book for one who has not read him? 😊
......these are the good old days, and I'm three years older than you, GK.
Stick around. Hear that sound for 36 months more. Then. You're on your own.
Great story—and summation!

I personally am trying to avoid old age. At 58 it looks like I'm fighting a losing battle.
