I like the Police Van at Mara Lago, I hope the prison time is without the cost of secret service personnel. I think NPR is balanced and still listen to it. DW or BBC are the only alternatives. I think you would be more accurate in your criticism if it was Pacifica you intended though, Im glad they are there. The only non commercial American Public Radio.

I'm a DJ at a community radio station. Pacifica with Amy Goodman is on right before my show, and I agree with you. No nuance there! NPR has problems but Garrison exaggerates. We also check out DW and BBC. Best to consume a variety of (legitimate) news sources.

WERU, you play Rock &Roll according to the internet 👍Amy Goodman, yup. Great Journalistic Ethics, Goes to the facts, NPR has a good ethical standard but, Pacifica by its nature has editorial that gives more of a voice to victims of state terror, that tends more to call for action.

GK exaggerates a bit, but I understand the sentiment about NPR. After 35 years i looked for some other news sources. My current favorite is The Guardian.

I also listen to NPR and don’t agree with the criticism. Also, equating Mayor Adams and Trump is ridiculous. The joke with Adams is that the corruption is so minimal. Plane tickets and $100,00. I can hear Donald mocking Adams for being so stupid to get caught over so little.

I agree.

But sadly, the truly Trump-Deranged still show every indication of voting for him despite his multiple convictions, his traitorous activities, his obscenely fascist/authoritarian rants, and the increasingly obvious nature of his dementia and rapid mental decline.

Yes, you’re certainly right. It’s hard to say which is more horrifying; that he is like this, or the number of supporters that he —unbelievably— continue to accept all this.

I use the word “deranged” in the correct, literal sense. That is relentlessly adhering to view of the world that contrary to all fact. As an example, we can point to Donald Trump’s minions who have a worldview that unquestioningly accepts any lie or absurdity that he spouts, no matter how clearly false or pathetically absurd.

Now, to be clear, I recognize that those who live in his Bizzaro world use the term T[rump]D[erangement]S[yndrome]to attack those who speak the plain, simple truth about the horror that he represents. But a moment’s reflection makes it clear that this is simply yet one more of his standard rhetorical technique of his accusing those who call out his evil actions of being _themselves_ guilty of his vilest crimes and sins. But clearly no one capable of a moment’s clear thought can take such a ridiculous, counter-factual usage seriously.

Well, you're absolutely right, except for everything you said. I could explain for days, and provide receipts to back up every opinion I have, but rational thought, proofs and logic are completely lost on folks who swallowed leftist media lies hook, line and sinker. So it's a waste of time and I don't bother. There's a world of information out there to counter leftist horse hockey for anybody so inclined.

You probably don't enjoy having your thought process called "deranged" any more than half the country of good faith Trump supporters enjoy being demonized and lectured at by people who actually believe that today's lying lawyer Democrat politicians are good people who really care about them. Oh, look, a bridge for sale! Better snap that up before Brooklyn changes its mind.

Hyperbolic projection and BalderdaSh, especially in re rational thought, critical thinking, proofs, and logic. The world of information cited is actually the dark world of mis- and dis-information as well as outright falsehoods. "Good faith Trump supporters"? Severely misplaced faith especially if held for religious reasons. There are none so blind ... or conned.

Thanks GK for your good perspective. We as a nation and multiethnic people are in deep deep trouble if DJT is elected. It’s nor only him that’s dangerous- perhaps even more dangerous and evil is JDV who with dark enablers will surely advance 2025 project goals as efficiently as he and they are able. I am now very pessimistic. Hope and pray.

On one hand Garrison says he doesn’t listen to NPR and then turns around saying they pussyfoot around Eric Adam being Black. When was the last time he listened to NPR? Seems fairly recent to me.

Why does including the fact that Eric Adams is Black make it he reporting any better?

All it would do is justify to those who see white all around, except for the black they know, to be Black is to be Bad.

Garrison has developed a streak of meanness over the course of his career. I wish he’d go back to skewering those most like him, get them to think about their kinds’ behavior towards “others”. He was. genuinely effective back then. Now he just comes across as resentful and old. Garrison is no longer the Mark Twain of our generation..

I think you missed the point of his comments regarding Eric Adam and NPR. GK's criticism of NPR isn't that they aren't reporting that Adam is black, it's that they dance around the allegations and treat him with kid gloves "because" he is black. If we hope to live in a color-blind society (which was the dream of MLK), people of all races and ethnicities need to be treated the same, not given a pass because they are from a once (yes, I wrote "once") marginalized group.

Once again Garrison, I think you nailed the truth. Thank you. Whats amazing is that you still made me laugh in the middle of all this angst and strife.

The Republican Party has been hijacked by one of the most powerful influencers in modern times, and the Democratic Party has been hijacked by goofy social ideas. I guess the old fashioned progressive ideas from the 60's and 70's are boring and not worth following up on. And I feel like I do not have a lot of company in the middle. Its a little lonely.

And so personally, I am ready for the election!!!!!

If Harris wins, I am going to tell all my MAGA buddies: "See, I told you so. Trump could not win. You all should have supported Haley." If Trump wins, I am going to tell all my liberal relatives: "See, I told you so. The Dems should have been more inclusive and tried to UNDERSTAND country culture and tried to recruit them."

And life goes on.

But please, please, please. Stay healthy so I can see you in Galveston!!!

Could it be that the GOP has been hijacked by the idea of closing the border to 3rd world illegal immigration, ending forever wars, low inflation, a return to energy independence; and not the “personality of an influencer”?

We've been seeing blatant public displays of swastikas and Confederate flags alongside Djt banners on 'maga' boats and at many of Djt's events, including at the violent invasion of the Capitol on J6.

Djt's reactions to being associated with Nazism and historic racism has ranged from silent shrugs to praise. All that, topped by his publicly admitted friendship with, and refusal to criticize, Putin and notorious dictators, should clearly indicate that this November, only one presidential candidate in the U. S. will assure that this country remains a democracy based in human rights.

"If you listen to NPR you get the feeling that the major problem facing us today is the unhappiness of nonbinary teenagers." Actually, if you lived in Ohio, you would hear the Republican candidate for the U.S. Senate speaking as if transgendered sexual predators laid in wait in every public bathroom in the country. Apparently, he has nothing much to say about qualifications for the job so it's come down to this.

Interesting image, Garrison; Donald Trump and Eric Adams in pinstripes sharing a room not in a 5 star hotel. The one a racist, privledged elite, not able to see beyone the silver spoon stuck in his mouth; the other a hustler con man who rose to prominence by playing those like his new roomate.

Who knows? Perhaps time and proximity can lead them to those lessons that seem to have evaded them: that beyond the accidentals appearances, we are all the same schmucks and we better learn to get along if we are to get ahead.
