I have always admired an individual who possesses a clear mind, a steady hand, and a compassionate heart. Mr. Keillor, you check all the boxes. Thank you for getting us started on a positive note each day.
could you possibly help out a fellow Lutheran boy and 2-time Peabody Award winner who is down on his luck? Seems a man named Musk has picked up my scent and is tracking me down because of what I’ve created here: muffydrake.com

It is always amazing to me, Garrison, how many subjects and ideas you weave seamlessly into one short column and each one a gem. I envy that young woman her restraint re the missing wallet. I am Italian (well half) and I tend to be, shall we say, excitable in such situations. I am inspired to do better.
I am not - and in spite of being an actress and so in a field where it is possible - never will be a celebrity. But I have always been a confidant and yes, it is an honor.
On another topic within this lovely column, please be careful of falling! Are you doing any balance exercises? At least stand on one foot while you brush your teeth. You are not replaceable.
A wonderful column in which you wonderfully covered several important topics. I especially appreciated your listening skills as that is the greatest gift one can give another, as listening heals, and is most respectful.
I am glad that the people in your neighborhood take care of each other in such a civil manner. And I am glad that strangers come to your rescue as my life is made richer by your insights, logic, and writings.
Meanwhile on the other side of town, in a place called the Bronx, 1.42 million people live with a median household income of $49,000. Not sure how many children live there, but I bet quite a few. I am an old man too, and I do like it when society helps me when I stumble. But I really think that children are more important than I am. I would like it better if a civil society would help these children when they stumble. Who is going to tell these kids what wonderful opportunties exist in this world? Who is going to tell them their potential and how their lives can be so wonderful if they get close to reaching it. Who is going to help these families thrive?
That being said, not quite sure I would go as far as calling New York City a civil society. Ignorance has always been bliss.
As always Garrison, thanks for the early morning stimulation and please keep it coming.
My husband bought a bright orange wallet for the same reason, and couldn’t find it for a day and a half. This was around Halloween — and it was finally found in a basket of pumpkins! Maybe there truly is a Great Pumpkin… 🎃
Your writing is a gift to all-words that paint a picture and enable your reader to feel something. The ability to listen, I believe, is a gift even more rare. To quietly hear and empathize with another, especially with no judgement, is where grace resides. Rare, indeed, but possible.
Thanks for the reminder, Garrison. In light of the crazy we are living through, I needed the reminder of what truly matters-
In the old days, one tidy little tag line summed up everything guys needed to check for before leaving the house: spectacles, testicles, wallet, and watch. I’m betting you can come up with a 2025 update. 😀
I have always sensed a good person and a good listener behind your public persona. I never doubted it.

Brilliant
Is this the former Susan Millett?
We thank you

A wallet in the black, please. A book should be red.
What’s a wallet anyway? Just a dumb purse…
Good stuff.

Boy, have I missed you. As you're not here in person, I'll hug my husband in your stead. 🫶
P.S. I bought a red purse, because brown leather matched our floors. "Honey, have you seen my purse?" <face palm>

Thanks, I always wondered why my grandfather painted his testicles red.
Garrison, I can't believe it when you say, "nobody notices me on the subway." I think I
would notice you if you came back to Santa Cruz! I missed you when you were in Felton.
If and when you come back, I will definitely be there.
