May I say that at the several events I attended in Houston & Santa Fe opera house, I participated in singing with you and it was sheer delight…it is only few who can 1) perform without intermission, and 2) create a vibe so tangible as the crowd joined together in song! You are a marvel and I sorely miss the Caribbean cruise we almost enjoyed in 2019, canceled for covid! Thank you! From Austin, 50+ days of 100s!
That was a marvelous piece! As American as Apple Pie! It brought back such memories of our group singing - which has always been a cherished part of APHC live performances!
One of the details particularly struck me! You talked about a man with a peculiar consumption technique for food. Once (was it on an APHC cruise? I don't recall.) I was at a dining table with a blind man. I was fascinated to watch the way he would poke around to find the dimensions of the food on his plate, using both knife and fork a once. Then, meticulously, exactly, he would cut fork-sized pieces and guide them skillfully to his mouth.
I had never really considered such ordinary things - how the blind would go about doing them. But once, on an APHC Cruise of the Mediterranean, there was a blind couple. Some other passengers had taken them under their wing. They gave verbal pictures: "There's a wooden ramp up to the boat with horizontal slats every four feet..." We got to a glass factory, and since I was sitting behind them, I could hear the visual guidance crew giving minute descriptions of the process. I was so impressed! These folks had just met up on the trip, but I'd be willing to bet that both couples would say that the other couple made their journey more enjoyable! It's nice to be helped, but it's also nice to know how to give "help" that's significant!
Couldn’t hurt!
Love this. Esp
No prayer. These hypocrite. Any song would do. Healthy competition
