I recognize you've moved past PHC, Mr. Keillor. But I still have the fondest memories of the show. Perhaps there's something as good or better around now but I'm not aware of it if there is.

Which reminds me, if my surname were "Dreck" I'd name my child "Commercial" which is what most of the media is in this country. Thank heaven for the hours of classical music on NPR.

David Hoekema is correct, of course, that the central, true meaning of what it is to be “Woke” represents an honorable, worthy set of principles that should be --and need to be-- stood up for.

But it is also true that those who take those principles seriously, also need to take seriously the responsibility of defending the meaning of the term when hateful nonsense is put forward in its name by those who would attempt to hide behind the claim of such an honorable set of beliefs.

(The same can also be said, for example, of the equally honorable names of, say, Patriotism. Or, for that matter Christian.)

We too were regular Saturday night listeners to PHC, and between the hours of 6-8pm nothing else mattered. One of my favorites was a celebration , perhaps in a church or? Details escape me, but as your tale climaxed a big dog(a black lab?) made a flying leap to the table heavily laden with all wonderful foods and the dog snatched ,maybe a salmon ?, and the food table collapsed.Any chance to guide me to that tale again? Thank you and keep on keepin' on.

'Anyway, being forced to recollect the lost chunk wound up improving it.' That immediately reminded me of my marriages. Thanks!

I think this may be the missing limerick:

A spinster who lived in Duluth

Would weep when she thought of her youth

Recollecting the chances

She had at school dances

And once in a telephone booth.

I love getting your free column, but I'm retired and not able to subscribe at the moment. Can I send a one-time or more often gift to Garrison Keillor and Friends? My husband and our friends are so glad to have you back in our lives!

Your Christmas column is wonderful. Yes, we're ready to be done with trivets and souffle pans, for sure! My husband Ken and I believe our favorite PHC piece was "Snow Home." Thank you for enriching our lives.
